At 1 MW, Lanesville Solar RES in Lanesville is among the largest solar installations in Indiana. Completed in 2013, this photovoltaic project has enough electric capacity to power more than 128 homes. The Power Plant distributes electrical power to the Harrison County area electrical grid, which delivers it to electricity consumers.

The solar farm covers about 15 acres and consists of 4,320 solar panels. It is the third of 10 that Hoosier Energy is installing as part of the power supplier’s “all-of-the-above” energy strategy to provide its 18-member distribution systems with another energy source to further the cooperative commitment of affordability, reliability and community.

The $1.5 billion dollar Mammoth Solar Project will be built across Starke and Pulaski’s county lines, comprising more than 13,000 acres — roughly 1,000 times the size of Lucas Oil Stadium. It will have a total of 2.85 million solar panels, and once fully operational by the end of 2024, will generate a total of 1.65 gigawatts of electricity.

Mammoth Solar farm will become partially operational by mid-2023 and it will start off producing 400 megawatts of electricity, enough to power 75,000 households.

The Indianapolis International Airport is home to the largest airport-based solar farm in the world. Comprised of two phases, the 25 MW IND Solar Farm creates 20 MW AC of power, which has the capacity to power 3,210 homes for a year.

The electric energy generation facility includes 87,488 solar photovoltaic panels, each capable of producing a range of 280-305 watts at peak power production. The panels are installed on fixed ground-mounted racking systems (Phase I) and ground-mounted tracker systems (Phase II/III) that fill nearly 183 acres of land on both the east and west sides of the terminal near the entrance to the Indianapolis International Airport.

Phase I commissioned in October 2013, Phase II/III commissioned in August 2015.
